JOB DESCRIPTION:
WhyMaker is looking for multiple experienced, independent educators to teach hands-on, STEM curriculum to students ages K - College as a part of a two-year grant in New York State. Successful candidates will be teaching students in after school, weekend and summer learning environments. Curriculum includes a pre-developed series of 4 lessons each with hands-on activities on Electricity Basics and Zero Emission Vehicles. Lessons are modified for each age group, however, educators will need to adapt and customize each lesson to meet the needs of each differing learning environment.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to implement hands-on STEM lesson plans in after school, weekend & summer program settings
  • Able to make connections and build relationships with K-College students
  • Customizing of lesson plans and presentations ahead of time
  • Liaison with on-site program managers to ensure smooth implementation
  • Responsible for hands-on activity kits and additional materials
  • Set-up and clean-up of materials for each program
  • Must be on time, organized and prepared


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience teaching STEM & hands-on lessons required
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus
  • Must have transportation within 50 miles of your home in New York State (WhyMaker will cover transportation expenses for longer distances)
  • Proficient in Google Suite
  • Bachelor degree required, NYS teaching certification preferred
  • New York State background checks and fingerprinting required
  • Covid Vaccination required


SALARY RANGE
$25 - $100 per hour

This is a 2 year, per-project, part time, freelance opportunity. Preparation hours will be flexible, but you are required to be present during class times you are scheduled to teach. Times of classes will vary throughout the week, including after school, evenings, weekends and summers. Teaching will take place in person and on virtual platforms. Travel around New York State will be required. Position begins immediately. Contractor role. US-based applicants only. Position is flexible.

Whymaker is seeking multiple STEM instructional designers to be part of an exciting Clean Energy Project. The right candidate will be able to work independently, meet a strict timeline, be excited about creating the best content possible, and willing to collaborate with other team members (virtually) as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have:

  • Teaching experience REQUIRED (6th-8th/ 9th-12th or CTE focus is preferred)
  • Strong background in STEM, Science (strong consideration for those with clean Energy experience)
  • Created content for the general population of teachers across the US (not just yourself)
  • Ability to research, find and use the appropriate standards
  • Be action-oriented providing ongoing project updates
  • Independent thinker and problem solver
  • Neat and organized, paying attention to details
  • Be open to feedback and modifications
  • Excellent grammar and writing skills

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create new and unique hands-on projects for K - 12 classrooms with Clean Energy focus
  • Generate objectives and outlines of lessons and activities
  • Develop scope and sequence for long curriculum unitsCreate content that is easy to follow for teachers and engaging for students
  • Lead in developing instructional materials and student materials for lesson plans or activities:
    - Instructional materials may include writing in specific lesson plan templates, creating assessments, objectives, connecting to standards, teacher training information, front matter, additional resources, and be for virtual or in-person.
    - Student materials may include worksheets, design journals, portfolios, labs, instructions, assessments, etc.
  • Create content that is easy to follow for teachers and engaging for students
  • Implement diverse instructional strategies for diverse groups of learners

WhyMaker is seeking multiple Professional Development Providers to be part of an exciting NYS Clean Energy Project. The right candidate has an unusually strong customer service focus, is enthusiastic and able to motivate others, and is engaging to listen to. The right candidate also has experience teaching, knowledge of clean energy and is able to create the best professional development content around.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Subject matter expertise- strong background in STEM, Science (Clean Energy, Sustainability, Environmental)
  • Successful experience training other teachers
  • Able to compile professional development experiences that are world class and meeting adult learning standards
  • Prepared and organized, paying attention to details
  • Adapt to the needs of the audience
  • Build rapport with the audience and understand their needs and challenges
  • Lead discussions, facilitate group activities, and encourage participation is essential in creating an interactive and engaging learning environment

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Travel to attend two 4-day this summer institutes and at least four 1-day workshops throughout the 2023/2024 school year

  • Deliver workshops that are engaging, interactive, and use a range of techniques - lectures, activities, etc.
  • Coordinate with the event planner to ensure all needed supplies and materials are ready for your workshops

Marketing Coordinator Intern

WhyMaker is an Education Professional Development company that advances STEM education through multiple methods including professional development for teachers, reselling the best STEM products, and writing STEM curriculums.


We're looking for an outgoing person who is interested in gaining practical, educational marketing experiences. This work will include assisting with creating digital and physical materials for social media, email, website, and events. We’re looking for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, has excellent communications skills, and is curious about working within the education space.


During this internship, the intern will learn about educational services, STEM products, and marketing strategies. Interns will also work within a team and build relationship skills and gain practical experience in a business environment.
