The Walker is a widget of the Piper Make Robotics Expedition Kit, and an engaging way to start exploring how to design and build robots. The Walker is an add-on and REQUIRES a Piper Make Starter Expedition Kit with the Raspberry Pi Pico to get started (sold separately).

You’ve seen Spot, the Boston Dynamics Robot with eerily dog-like walking behaviors – now build your own! Designed to inspire creativity and critical thinking about robotic design and inspiration, the Walker will get users thinking about how robots move in space and how to use sensors to detect space. Check out the build guide for the Walker. This kit includes three lessons free and accessible on make.playpiper.com, look for the Walker Race, Walker Dance, and Walker Detect missions.

Use the included blueprint to assemble your Walker, complete with servo motors and then learn to write code that will allow the Walker to walk by changing angles of the motors. As you help Piperbot and Pip compete in a Mars Creature Competition in our storyline, you’ll learn how sequential angle changes can let your robot walk, dance, and detect obstacles to stop – a must-have for future technologists out there!

With the Piper Make Walker, you will receive:

  • Servo Motors (4)
  • Ultrasonic Range Finder
  • Laser Cut, Laser Etched Wood Pieces
  • 3D Printed Sensor holder
  • Brass Hardware
  • Screwdriver
  • Jumper Wires M2M
  • Jumper Wires M2F
  • Blueprint Postcard
  • Piper Make Sticker

For educators, our Piper Make online platform includes tools to facilitate teaching with Piper Make!  Resources such as Educator Guides and a full suite of Google collaboration tools including Classroom Share Button, Google Single Sign On (SSO), and Save to Google Drive functions are free and available at make.playpiper.com.
